When Your Spouse Wants Out: What Can You Do?
If your spouse says they want out, urgency can make you chase reassurance, argue your case, or demand immediate decisions. A more useful approach is to separate what you can influence from what you cannot control.
Important: Reconciliation is not the right goal in every situation. Where there is abuse, coercive control, stalking, threats, or immediate danger, prioritize safety and qualified local support.
What you can control
You can control your behavior, how you communicate, whether you respect reasonable requests for space, and whether you seek qualified help. You cannot force another adult to recommit.
Avoid treating one conversation as a guaranteed prediction of the final outcome.
