Marriage Crisis: Understand What Is Happening

A marriage crisis can show up as repeated conflict, emotional distance, resentment, loss of trust or uncertainty about staying together. The useful first question is not “How do I force this back to normal?” but “What is actually happening, and what is within my control?”

Important: Reconciliation is not the right goal in every situation. Where there is abuse, coercive control, stalking, threats, or immediate danger, prioritize safety and qualified local support.

Begin with the pattern, not one argument

Look for recurring patterns: escalation, withdrawal, unresolved injuries, avoidance, or repeated attempts to connect that leave both people more frustrated.

A crisis does not by itself tell you whether reconciliation will happen. It tells you the current pattern needs attention.
